Produktinformationen
L-glutamine is a semi-essential amino acid. It is produced by the body itself, but sufficient amounts must also be ingested daily through food. It is the most abundant amino acid in the body. In the human body, the skeletal muscles, lungs, brain and fatty tissue produce particularly large amounts of L-glutamine. Glutamine is particularly important for immune cells and the mucous membrane cells of the intestine.
Some L-glutamine products are derived from duck feathers or human hair. HPUandYou's L-glutamine is made from corn.
Studies on L-glutamine:
- Improving gut health: Glutamine plays an important role in maintaining gut health and function. Studies have shown that glutamine as a dietary supplement can improve the permeability of the intestinal barrier and reduce inflammation (1, 2). A review of 19 studies found that glutamine can improve gut function and integrity in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (3).
- Supporting the immune system: Glutamine is important for the function of the immune system and can help to reduce infections and inflammation. One study found that glutamine can increase the production of immune cells and antibodies in healthy people (4). Another study showed that glutamine as a dietary supplement can reduce the risk of infection in patients with severe injuries (5).
- Supporting muscle building: Glutamine can help to prevent muscle breakdown and promote muscle building. One study found that taking glutamine can improve muscle building and muscle strength in older people (6). Another study showed that glutamine as a dietary supplement can reduce muscle loss in people who exercise a lot (7).
