Produktinformationen

Iodide, a trace element, exists in natural form mainly in seawater, mineral springs and in some marine products such as fish and algae. Germany is one of the regions with a low iodine content. In the past, this led to iodine deficiency and visible goitre in many people. However, as fish and algae are often contaminated with heavy metals, many people refrain from eating these products.

Iodine is crucial for the production of thyroid hormones. A deficiency can lead to thyroid enlargement. Iodides are absorbed through food and transported to the thyroid gland, where they are needed for hormone production.

An adequate supply of iodine is important at all stages of life, especially during pregnancy for the healthy development of the child. A deficiency can affect the thyroid gland and lead to problems such as hypothyroidism.

You can find more information about iodine here.
