Iron – 60 capsules

This iron product contains iron in the form of iron bisglycinate, vitamin C and an extra portion of glycine.

Iron contributes to:

• normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin,
• normal oxygen transport in the body,
• a normal energy metabolism,
• normal cognitive function,
• the reduction of tiredness/fatigue and
• supports cell division.

Vitamin C improves the absorption and utilization of iron. The natural vitamin C from rosehip extract also contributes to the normal function of the immune system and protects against oxidative stress, which is often present in HPU.

Glycine:

• is involved in the formation of heme.
• can improve the bioavailability of iron by increasing the absorption of iron in the intestine. Iron is normally absorbed in the intestine by special transport proteins. However, these transport proteins are sensitive to other molecules that can compete with iron in the intestine.
• has a special ability to protect these transport proteins by binding to them and shielding them from other molecules that compete with iron. In this way, glycine can facilitate the absorption of iron by the body and improve the bioavailability of iron.
• In addition, glycine can also increase the release of iron from the storage protein ferritin by increasing the activity of an enzyme responsible for the release of iron from ferritin.
